William Walsh

William (Billy) Walsh, formerly of Jersey City, passed away on Oct 15th, shortly after celebrating his 81st birthday. After a lifetime of loving family, friends, and neighbors in the Heights, he moved his family to Tinton Falls and the Jersey Shore where he lived for 32 years. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 56 years, Kathryn Theresa Walsh (nee Sheehy), as well as loving daughters, Kerry Ann Piersa, (nee Walsh) & husband Steve, and Deborah Walsh, and his loving grandsons who were the joy of his life, William (Billy) & Daniel (Danny) Piersa. In addition, he is also survived by his brother Donald Walsh, brother in-law Thomas Sheehy & his wife, Deborah, nephew Ryan & wife, Karen Sheehy and many nieces & nephews as well as great & great-great nieces & nephews. He is predeceased by his father & mother, John & Gladys Walsh. Billy loved spending time with his family on any occasions and was sure to be found telling a tale, if not making one. He enjoyed taking family trips to Walt Disney World as well as helping others plan their memories at the parks. He loved going to Atlantic City and connected with doctors, neighbors, and friends almost as soon as he brought up the Borgata buffet. Billy enjoyed listening to Elvis, Bobby Darin, & to the soundtrack of The Jersey Boys. He loved movies as well, in particular John Wayne Westerns and Sci-Fi flicks. In fact, he met his wife while working at a theater and the two would go to Saturday matinees together for almost the entirety of their lives. Billy worked as a traffic analyst for Block Drug Company for 32 years in Jersey City, receiving a gold watch for his time, as well as Schumacher Company in Cranbury, N.J. In addition to this, he was a wedding photographer for over two decades, capturing some of life’s most precious moments. Billy’s life will be celebrated at a Memorial Gathering on Saturday, October 22nd from 10AM to 1PM at Bongarzone Funeral Home, 2400 Shafto Road in Tinton Falls, N.J. All Family & Friends are welcome. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the American Heart Association.
