He died peacefully in his sleep at the Jersey Shore Center in Eatontown, NJ under hospice care. Carol Galanakis his sister and caregiver strived to provide the best care for him with the help of all her family warriors. She was by his side for the duration of his illness. Born on October 12, 1940, in Kardamila, Chios Greece. Son of Eftichia Parlamas Tsarouhas and Anthony Tsarouhas. Niko as we called him; was born during the occupation of the Germans in Greece during WW2. Unfortunately, he never met his father. His father fought in the war and was bombed on the ship where no one survived. In 1943 when he was 3 years old the Germans left and finally Greece was free. His mother raised him alone with her loving family. In 1953, he and his mother decided to leave Greece and go to the USA for a better life. They wanted to be with the family that was there. When mother and son went to board the ship Federica, Nick’s mother was detained. Therefore, Nick traveled alone to the USA. Both were separated and in devastation. Fortunately, 2 aunts were there to greet him in Pittsburgh, PA his mom’s sisters Maria Gregos and Irene Liadis. His Aunt Maria took on the task to raise him for 3 years along with cousins Angelo Gregos and George Parlamas. Times were tough but they made do. He flourished under Aunt Maria’s care and acquired his love for sports and especially football. In 1956 mother and son were reunited in the USA. They settled in Newark, NJ. A few years later his mother met Nicholas Moschos from Kardamila, Chios and they were married in 1958. Nick finally had a dad he longed for. In early 60’s, Nick attended the United Radio & Television Institute where he studied electronics and earn certificates in this field. As a newly American citizen, he was drafted in the United States Army during the Vietnam war. He was stationed in Germany in 1963 and was released in 1969 with an Honorable discharge. He was a very proud Veteran to have served his newly found country. Even though it was a tough time of war, Nick was excited to find out that in 1963 God granted him a sister that was named Carol. She became the apple of his eye and cherished her all his life. In the early 70’s he was offered a position at IBM but declined. He took a position in the CRG corporation as a general contractor where he learned all aspects of the trade. Later he formed his company Libra Associates Inc and was very successful. At age 55 in 1995 he retired. He decided to venture in real estate with family that was successful. He focused on family, his nephews Niko & Andreas. Showering them with gifts and love. He loved to travel, take pictures, and watch movies to share with family. Biking, hiking, nature and natural foods. Most of all he loved his family and people and of course the ladies. Although he had all of this. One thing was evident he wanted to be married and have a family of his own. That was his dream. In 2011 his dream came true. A daughter appeared who had been adopted and found him. Her name Alison jayne. Nick was thrilled and was so happy. They developed a wonderful relationship even though it was later in life. In 2021 another daughter appeared her name Denise Moran. A daughter he never was blessed to know about. Even though he did not understand his eyes lit up when he saw her. Both daughters devoted until the end. We Thank them for their unwaivering love and devotion.
