Dimitra Dimitroulakou

Dimitra Dimitroulakou, 59, of Ocean NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday May 14, 2021. Dimitra was born in Gytheio Laconia, Greece to Hristos and Efthimia Koutroumanos. Dimitra grew up on the shores of Mavrovouni into a large loving family and community. She later moved to Piraeus, Athens where she studied fashion and design. She met the love of her life, Telly, at a wedding, wearing her favorite white dress. She often referred to this night as “love at first sight’ and joked that Telly had to date her, her 4 brothers and countless cousins. Together, they moved to Brooklyn, New York and started their life story, having 3 children, countless nieces and nephews and cultivating a large, loving community of friends and family. Dimitra was known for her big, genuine smile, her nurturing nature and for always having a playful demeanor. She loved unconditionally and was strong and resilient despite her small frame and gentle predisposition. She brought people together and saw the best in everyone. Her home was always open to family and friends and full of colorful flowers and trees. She loved baking, cooking, travelling and dancing and she would often break out into a zeibekiko, just because. She donated frequently to those less fortunate and always reminded us to be kind and giving. She truly believed love could conquer all and had a zest for life. A woman purely devoted to her family, she adored her children and her beautiful little grandchild, Ari, who brought her much joy and strength during her battle. We love you to the moon and back. Dance a zeimbekiko up in Heaven! Dimitra was preceded in death by her parents Hristos and Efthimia Koutroumanos; her brother Petros Koutroumanos; her in-laws Pavlos and Arhontoula Dimitroulakos; and her sister-in-law Panayiota Anastasakou. She is survived by her beloved husband of 43 years Aristotelis Dimitroulakos; her daughter Arhontoula Dimitroulakos; her son Pavlos A. Dimitroulakos and his wife Nicole Dimitroulakos; her son Hristos Dimitroulakos; and her grandchild Aristotelis Robert Dimitroulakos. She is also survived by her siblings and their spouses Giorgos & Regina Koutroumanos, Konstandinos Koutroumanos, Nikolaos Koutroumanos, Dimitrios & Ioanna Dimitroulakos, Grigorios & Maria Dimitroulakos, and Mihalis Anastasakos; sister-in-law Petra Koutroumanou; and many nieces, nephews and cousins: Pavlos D., Pantelis, Pavlos G. Ellie, Travis, Skye, Mihalis, Konstantinos, Nicole, Vasilios, Pavlos A., Vasilliki, Anastasios, Hristos, Anna, Alexandra, Efthimia, Christina, Alonso, Aspasia Georgopoulou, Ta Harilakia Και όλα τα Kουτρουμανακια. May her Memory be eternal. Dimitra’s visitation will be held 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Bongarzone Funeral Home, 2400 Shafto Road, Tinton Falls, NJ 07712. Funeral service will be offered at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 17, 2021 at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1033 West Park Avenue, Ocean, NJ 07712. Interment will follow at St. George Greek Orthodox Cemetery, Neptune, NJ.
