William Van Salisbury

Anyone who knew William Van Salisbury, or Bill, Billy, or Willy knew what an incredible Friend, Father, Husband, Poppy, Grandpa, and Daddy he was. His deep blue eyes and infectious smile lit up every room he walked into. A man of great stature, a big guy, with a heart of gold, and a temper on one ever wanted to ever see. He took care of and touched everyone he came in contact with over the years. And if you spoke every day to him, you were one of the lucky ones, and even if you didn’t when you did, it was as if no time ever passed. Bill was born May 7, 1948 to Nanetta and Howard Van Salisbury, the youngest of 8 children he was the baby of the family. Raised in Keansburg New Jersey, he grew up and entered the military in the early 60’s. He was honorably discharged in 1968. He married his childhood sweetheart Marguerite who preceded him in death in 2003. He leaves behind in life his 3 children, Denise, Danielle, and Peter. He leaves behind 7 grandchildren, Nicholas, Petey, Arianna, Connor, Dante, Madelyn, and Lila. He also leaves behind his two fur babies, Hersey and Reeses. He spent 43 years in the Construction Business as a project superintendent for multiple construction corporations in New York City. He loved fishing, camping, baseball, trips to Hersey Park, his grand babies, good food, and so many other things that life has to offer. He was a private man who cherished those he called friends and family. We know that he is dancing with the angels in heaven and sitting at the end of the dock, with a line cast into the water where the cod are plentiful. We know we will see him again and that he is here watching over us all. William's visitation will be held 12 PM to 4 PM with a funeral service offered at 3:30 PM on Sunday, July 19 at Bongarzone Funeral Home, 2400 Shafto Road, Tinton Falls, NJ.
