Rosemary Ann Curtis

Our beloved mother, Rosemary Curtis entered into heaven on October 19, 2018. She instantly made it a better place. No doubt, she was excited to see her mother Mary, her father Anthony, and brother Leonard, all of whom had predeceased her. We are certain that her first order of business was to 'clean and straighten the place out.' Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, Rosemary Fetchko attended Piscataway High School, and Trenton State College, where she studied to be a teacher. After graduation, she was married to our father Steven, and then taught Business Administration at North Bergen High School, until her the birth of her children, Glenn, and Jill. Growing up, our mother loved to attend our baseball, soccer, football, and cheerleading events. She was always in the stands, rain or shine, often yelling the loudest, and never afraid to stand out or make her mark. And, upon the birth of her grandchildren, Morgan and Madison, she continued to do so, sometimes traveling far, and sitting in some pretty harsh conditions. No matter, her kids and grandchildren always came first. Always. Period! In fact, the day before she passed, she got to see her granddaughter Morgan on the soccer field, and her granddaughter Madison competing in a gymnastics meet. Her heart was clearly filled with joy, and her voice perhaps a little hoarse from cheering. She loved every second of it. Our mother was many things: Smart, pretty, generous with her time and money, and easy to approach and to have a conversation with. When you were wrong, she'd let you know. But then again, when you did a good job, she was the first to offer you praise and always the first to come up to you, talk to you, call you, text or email you after a bad day. Then again, if you felt sorry for yourself for too long, she'd also bluntly tell you to 'suck it up and be tough.' Anyone who came into contact with her, knew her great sense of humor and ability to laugh, even at herself. She was also a caring person, who would, without second thought, give you the shirt of her back if she thought you might need it, even if it left her cold. Slipping a piece of candy in your pocket, or writing you a kind note, or giving you a big smile for no other reason than she loved you, was just her way of doing things. Mom liked things that were fancy, and from time-to-time, liked to be pampered, and to get her hair and makeup done. But then again, she wouldn’t think twice about getting her hands dirty, and was never, ever afraid of work… especially if it meant helping her kids or grandchildren. She loved to walk, lift weights, and go to Aerobics class, which she still went to several times a week. As much as the exercise, she loved interacting with friends, which for her, were easy to make. Rosemary loved plays, music, especially Elvis, visiting with family and friends, reading, playing cards, and talking politics. No matter what she did, she would always make her mark, and everyone knew when she was in the room. Mom was a cheerleader in high school, and was always athletic. She was an excellent skier, and used to whip us big time when we went bowling as kids. We are beyond certain that she is looking down on us right now, doing her best to make sure that the wind will always at our backs, putting in a good word for us to the big guy in heaven, and bragging to others who have gone before us about her kids and grandchildren, which she absolutely lived for. We are also a thousand percent certain, and this is the most important part: That she would want you to think of the good times we've all had, and remember that she lived a great life, and to no matter what, keep moving forward, full-force, and living every second of your lives with as much joy as you can muster, and as much love as you can stuff in your hearts. We love you mom!!! You are always in our hearts, forever and ever. Amen.
