Rolf Guenther

Rolf Guenther, 86, of Eatontown, NJ formerly of Edison passed away peacefully with his devoted family by his side on March 22, 2025. He was born on December 18, 1938 in Greetsiel, Germany to the late Helmuth and Henrietta Guenther. He was an only child. His family immigrated to Edmonton in Alberta, Canada when he was 14 years old. There he worked on a farm. While attending school, he met the love of his life, Magdalene Kohrs. They eventually moved to the United States and got married in their mid twenties. They settled in Edison, NJ and raised two daughters, Susan and Karen. Recently they moved to the residence of Bright View in Eatontown. Rolf started his career as a tool and die maker. He eventually began his airline career joining Eastern Airlines. There he worked in several positions, retiring as the Station Manager. Along with others, he was involved in the formation of Kiwi Airlines out of Newark, NJ. Rolf and Magdalene would have married for 62 years in July. They enjoyed traveling the world, 28 countries, 21 states and some more than once with family and friends. Rolf also took pleasure in being outside in his garden, where he loved tending to flowers and planning landscaping ideas for their backyard. They enjoyed spending time at the Jersey Shore, although their favorite beaches were the island beaches. They rented houses on Long Beach Island, where many fun and great memories were made. Rolf is survived by his devoted wife, Magdalene, his beloved daughter, Susan Guenther Squillace, her children Ashley and Guy Squillace of Clark, his beloved daughter, Karen Guenther Brady and her husband David Brady and their children, Erin, Kyle and Meghan Brady of Howell. Rolf was predeceased by his son-in-law, Guy Squillace, Sr. Rolf loved his time with his family, his cherished five grandchildren, devoted wife and beloved daughters. He also loved to sneak treats to his favorite dog, Rey. She loved sitting next to him waiting for those forbidden treats!! Rolf will also be missed by many of his longtime friends- strong relationships he developed through the years. Rolf would always end his visits with family by telling them, “I love you more.” We love you more – and you will always be forever in our hearts. Rest in Peace, Rolf, Dad, Poppy.
