Paula T. Zorner

Paula Theresa Zorner (nee Angelino), 76, of Tinton Falls, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 19, 2023, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center after a brief illness. Paula was born on August 31, 1946, to Theresa and Rudolph Angelino in Passaic, NJ. As a young child she lived in Clifton, NJ shortly before moving to Wood-Ridge, NJ for many years. After being honored as her high school valedictorian, she went on to earn both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Montclair State College, now University. She taught for twelve years in the Hackensack, NJ public schools. During that time, she met Barry Zorner whom she married on June 29, 1978, at Our Lady of the Assumption in Wood-Ridge. Paula and Barry welcomed their first son, Michael Charles, in 1980, and their second son, Matthew James, in 1984. A few years later Paula began teaching at the Presbyterian Nursery School in Wood-Ridge as well as substitute teaching for the Wood-Ridge Public Schools. In 1993, Paula and her family moved to Tinton Falls, NJ. She taught at Hillel Yeshiva in Ocean, NJ for the remainder of her career, retiring from teaching in 2015. Paula enjoyed traveling in her retirement and went on a number of cruises, as well as visiting Italy, which had been a dream of hers for many years. She enjoyed playing mahjong, participating in book clubs, and gardening. She was a communicant at the Church of St. Anselm in Tinton Falls where she was a volunteer minister and participated in bible study groups. Most of all she loved her family. Paula was a devoted and loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and was always making sure that everyone in her family had everything that they needed. Paula’s family will always remember her with love and gratitude. She is predeceased by her parents, Rudolph and Theresa Angelino, and her son, Matthew. She leaves behind her husband of 45 years, Barry; her son, Michael, his wife Claire, and their three daughters, Amelia, Ainsley, and Adeline; her daughter-in-law, Danielle, and her son Joshua; her brother, Rudolph, sister-in-law, Dolores, and niece, Barbara; and her sister-in-law, Christy, and nephew, Christopher. Visitation will be held on Wednesday August 23, 2023, from 4pm-7pm at Bongarzone Funeral Home, 2400 Shafto Road, Tinton Falls, NJ 07712. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at 10:30AM at the Church of St. Anselm, 1028 Wayside Road, Tinton Falls, NJ 07712. There will be no visitation Friday before mass, the family has requested for everyone to go directly to church. Burial to follow at Monmouth Memorial Park, 4201 NJ-33, Tinton Falls, NJ 07753.
