Patricia B. Ivey

Patricia B. Ivey, Tinton Falls, NJ, passed away peacefully at home, on Friday, March 6, 2020. She was born in Washington D.C. on March 24, 1943 to the late Fitzhugh and Lucile Bussinger. She was 76 years old. Pat lived in Birmingham, AL, and attended the University of Alabama. She married and moved to NJ, living in Bay Head and Little Silver before moving to Tinton Falls, where she lived for the past 36 years. Pat devoted over 30 years working for the US Army at Ft. Monmouth in various departments. She retired in 2011 to spend more time with her husband, Lee, a US Army veteran of three wars who later worked as an Army civilian employee. They enjoyed traveling together, with family, and close friends. One of her favorite destinations was the Caribbean island of St. Maarten, N.A., a home away from home. Patty’s smile was warm, caring, and fun. She was a loving, giving, beautiful soul with a great gift for making others feel special. A devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, and friend, she was always there for others. Perhaps her proudest role was that of “Nana.” One of her greatest joys was spending time with her four grandchildren. When they were younger, she loved to babysit, and as they grew, she enjoyed attending their school activities, performances, and sporting events. She was very proud of each of them and their accomplishments, and they could always count on her love and support. In her free time, she enjoyed shopping, garage sales and antiquing, seeing Broadway plays, listening to music, traveling, meals with friends, but mostly spending time with her family. Whether it was a delicious home cooked meal, a simple barbeque on the deck or dining out at one of her favorite restaurants, she was just happy being together. She made holidays extra special and always went above and beyond, putting so much effort into the planning, and so much thoughtfulness into her gifts. She had the most generous heart. Her unconditional love, sacrifice, dedication, and generosity will never be forgotten. Patty will be dearly missed. Pat was predeceased by her loving husband, Lee G. Ivey, in 2016. She is survived by her two daughters and their families. Laura Lyon Tobin (Brendan) and Sara Lyon O’Gureck (Robert); and her grandchildren, Alexander and Meghan Tobin, and Jackson and Anna O’Gureck. Patricia also leaves behind many close friends whom she loved dearly. Burial will be done privately at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ.
