Marie Kurasz Lorenz

Born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey, Marie’s vibrant spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. She was one of four children born to Albert and Marie Kurasz. She had two older sisters, Roberta and Arlene and one younger brother, Albert. She was very close with all her siblings, and they talked just about daily. Her sister Arlene Herbst is still living in Pennsylvania. Marie graduated from Snyder High School in 1964 and pursued her passion for design at the New York School of Interior Design, earning her degree in 1967. Her love for creativity led her to co-establish Hollyhock Florist in Jersey City alongside her beloved mother, a place where she infused beauty into the lives of her customers with every arrangement. In her early career, Marie proudly showcased her creativity by working at various respected furniture stores. However, it was her time at Silverton Yachts, where she designed elegant interiors for vessels that truly exemplified her talent and passion for nautical charm. In 1968, Marie married her soulmate, James. Together they created a loving home, and she cherished her role as a devoted mother to her two children, Jason (Tricia) Lorenz and Kimberly (Jonathan) Eldred. Marie found immense joy in her three granddaughters, Jana, Natalie, and Ella, whom she adored and loved deeply, often filling their lives with vibrant stories, laughter, and love. Marie was known not only for her inward beauty but for her genuine kindness, infectious zest for life, and an unparalleled ability to connect with people. An avid lover of nature and artistic expression, she appreciated the beauty that surrounded her and sought to inspire others to find joy in everyday moments. Marie leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, creativity, and resilience. Her family and friends will forever remember her light, humor, and the boundless love she shared so generously. In the coming days, we invite those whose lives she touched to celebrate her life and share stories of her passionate spirit. The family would like to thank Lorraine Berry for the care and compassion she showed Marie in her final days. The family will have a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, July 12, 2025 between the hours of 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Bongarzone Funeral Home, 2400 Shafto Road, Tinton Falls, NJ 07712.
