Kurtis D. Reitmeyer

Kurtis D. Reitmeyer, dedicated husband, father, brother and friend, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023. Kurt was born in South Amboy, New Jersey, grew up in Old Bridge, and raised his family in Jackson before designing and building his home in Shrewsbury. Kurt was a beloved family member and friend to many and always willing to lend a helping hand. He was larger than life and his personality filled up every room he entered. Kurt loved to spend his free time with his family, saltwater fishing, cheering on the Oakland A's, the NJ Devils, and was a New York Giants superfan, (especially when beating the Dallas Cowboys), and he enjoyed entertaining family and friends with his quick wit and culinary skills- whether an elaborate Thanksgiving meal or grillmaster at a backyard BBQ, he was always eager to don an apron to cook for those he loved. His "Opening Day of Football Season" parties were epic, and his humor and antics for a crowd are the stories of legend. Kurt donated his time as a volunteer firefighter at the Cheesequake volunteer fire department in Old Bridge, NJ and was deemed troublemaker-in-charge. For 10 years, his happy place was coaching at Holbrook Little League in Jackson. He was an indispensable member of the Schnell Contracting family, and his memory will be cherished by many there. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 37 years, Hildy (Née Landkorn) and his children; son, Erik Reitmeyer; daughter, Jordan and partner Matt Mackintosh; and daughter, Hannah Reitmeyer; sister-in-law, Britt Landkorn, brother, Cyrus Reitmeyer, III, sister, Paula Reitmeyer, Mother in-law Barbara and husband Herb Kriegsman, and many nieces and nephews and a host of extended family and friends. He is predeceased by his sister, Alison Eamello, (Chuck), and parents, Cyrus and Alice Reitmeyer, Jr. Cremation is private. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering to remember Kurtis and to share many memories, it will be held at Bongarzone Funeral Home, 2400 Shafto Rd., Tinton Falls from 1:00 to 3:00 PM on Saturday, September 2, 2023.
