Eileen V Kivior

Eileen McBride Kivior, 89, of Tinton Falls, NJ and Boynton Beach, FL, formerly of Jersey City and Middletown, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2022, at Riverview Medical Hospital. Eileen had a storied life starting with meeting her beloved husband, Edward, as newborns in the nursery at Margaret Hague Hospital in Jersey City. They were born on the same day, same year! It wasn’t until years later at St. Michael’s High School that Eileen and Edward formed a friendship and a few years after that they forged a relationship that would lead to a long-lasting marriage of 52 years. During this lovely marriage they devoted their lives to their four children. One of Eileen’s greatest joys was sharing her home with her children and their friends. Over the years, friends would share stories of how they were always eager to visit to share the warmth and hospitality of her nurturing nature. She took especially great pride in decorating her homes over the years. In her early adult years Eileen enjoyed her career as an executive secretary beginning at Colgate Palmolive in Jersey City and later continuing for many years at Charles of the Ritz in Holmdel. Living and working in Jersey City lent her the opportunity of shopping on Fifth Ave. for which Eileen developed a keen eye for fashion. Many family vacation memories were created year after year. Eileen and Ed especially enjoyed vacationing in Florida in their senior years with their longtime treasured friends. Everyone that knew Eileen thought of her as happy and young at heart. Her family and friends embraced their friendship, as she was a great listener and had a subtle but sharp sense of humor with an infectious laugh. Eileen was predeceased by her loving husband, Edward,Sr, her parents, Patrick and Margaret (Kelly) McBride, her sister, Veronica Tuohy, and her brothers Joseph, George and James McBride. Eileen is also survived by her children, Edward, Jr. (Ronda) of Richmond, VA; Kathleen Bradley (David Kirk) of Avon, NJ, JaneEllen (Steve) Greenwood of The Villages, FL, and Jill Jones (Allen) of Monmouth Beach. Her passions were reading, bocci, ceramics, and card games, but most of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Eileen was known as their cherished “Nanny” to ten affectionate grandchildren: Stephen Greenwood, Kristy Greenwood; Keith Bradley (Mallory), Jillian Werner (Ron); Alex Jones, Heidi Jones and Morgan Jones; Claire Kivior, Devyn Kivior and Caroline Kivior; nine adoring great-grandchildren: Piper,Trey, Blakely, Cooper, Stephen, Aubrey, Nina, Hunter and Avery, who all loved her so very much. The family will be receiving visitors for Eileen on Monday, September 12 from 4-8, at Bongarzone's Funeral Home, 2400 Shafto Rd., Tinton Falls, NJ. Mass in celebration of Eileen's life will be held at St. Catharine's Church on 215 Essex Ave., Spring Lake, NJ on Tuesday, September 13th at 10:30 am. Burial service will be held at a future date.
