Dominick William Zoccoli

Dominick W Zoccoli, 84, of Eatontown, NJ passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on February 19, 2025. He was born to Dominick J. Zoccoli and Agnes Thomas on February 16, 1941 and raised in New Britain, CT. He was raised by his adoring mother and his step-father Robert Roth after the death of his father. He graduated from New Britain High School. He overcame a humble start in life and graduated from the University of Connecticut with a distinguished degree in Electrical Engineering as well as Columbia University with a Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1969. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force. He was a Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff (DMTS) at Bell Telephone Laboratories in Holmdel until his retirement. He met and married his wife, Janet Rice in Connecticut and moved together to New Jersey in 1967 in his little black VW beetle. In 1970 they started their family with the birth of their son and in 1972 welcomed their daughter. He was a loving father and grandfather who supported all of their interests. He was the neighborhood dad who played kickball, built snow forts, made award winning Halloween costumes, decorated cakes, and planned vacations. He enjoyed many family trips to ski and to Lake George every summer to boat, waterski and fish. He loved the outdoors including birding with his daughter, walks and hikes with his family. He never missed an opportunity to support his children and grandchildren at concerts, sporting events, plays, and graduations. He loved to have his whole family together. He took pride in his home and yard building a koi pond in his backyard for his grandchildren to enjoy. He was an accomplished self taught woodworker building various pieces of furniture in the homes of his family. He never lacked a pun or dad joke and could diffuse an awkward moment at any time with his calming reassurance. He was a life-long learner who had a creative mind. He loved to read, draw, cook, create art, photograph his family on all of their outings, take care of his family and worry about everyone and everything. Dominick had a plethora of interests, but his family was his greatest love of all. He is predeceased by his parents and step-father, sisters Noreen O’Meara and Karin Curcio. Dominick will be deeply missed and is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Janet (Rice), his adoring children Paul and his wife Katy of Eatontown, NJ and Laura Carberry of Exeter, RI, his grandchildren Emma and Jack Zoccoli and Charlotte Carberry his in-laws Robert Rice and Carol and Tom Phillips as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. A small service will be held at Bongarzone Funeral Home on Saturday, February 22, from 12 -1pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Audubon Society of Rhode Island at asri.org.
