Carol B. Iannace

Carol Barry Iannace, 89, of Seabrook Village passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. Carol was born and raised on Staten Island, the fourth of seven children born to Bertrand J. and Pauline Barry. She attended St. Peter’s High School for Girls on Staten Island, graduating in the class of 1951. Her academic achievements in high school led to a full 4-year scholarship to Notre Dame College on Staten Island where she earned a bachelor’s degree. During college, Carol entered the Congregation de Notre Dame Convent where she served for 16 years. Carol started teaching high school science at age 18 at Notre Dame Academy and remained a science teacher into her 30s. After leaving the order, Carol had a successful career as a technical salesperson for pharmaceutical and chemical companies and worked until her retirement at age 62. Carol met and married her husband, Joseph Frederick Iannace, in 1981. They lived in northern New Jersey for many years before moving south to Brick. In 2016, Carol moved to the Seabrook Senior Living Community in Tinton Falls. She was devoted to her stepchildren and grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and dear friends. Carol enjoyed singing in her church choir and participating in her faith community. Carol was an avid skier. She and Joe were active members of the Ski Club of New Jersey and traveled the world together to ski. Carol also volunteered for many years teaching English to immigrants. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, humor and wit. Carol was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph F. Iannace; her brothers Bertrand F. Barry and William Barry; and her sisters Marilyn Codd, Paula Meisel, and Therese Wall. She is survived by her stepson, Paul Iannace, and his wife, Nancy of Montclair, NJ; her stepdaughter, Rena Cornella and her husband Alex of Blairstown, NJ; three grandchildren, Dante Cornella, Lia Cornella, and Simon Cornella; two great-grandchildren, Hannah Cornella and Hailey Cornella; and her sister Veronica Coyle of Fullerton, CA. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 10, at Holy Innocents Roman Catholic Church, 3455 West Bangs Ave., Neptune, NJ 07753. Carol will be laid to rest privately, adjacent to her husband, Joe, at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
